Gill feeling poorly; Little Dick was sick; I stayed here 2 weeks then went with Aunt Jane Slaymaker to her dau. Fanny's in New Jersey & remained 6 weeks; then came here & stayed until Jan 5 & went to Baltimore & remained 4 months; Sam Hoogenwooff was married Oct. 18 to Miss Dueale (?), sister to W. D. Dorsey; Betsey Hoogenwooff & I went to see his intended; John is a bachelor & lives with his mother & 2 sisters; I spent the day several times at your Uncle Henry's, he lives with Hugh, Hugh supports his family, he sends Sally $50 every month; Jane Douglass married her 2nd husband, a clergyman in Milwaukee, she had 1 child with 1st husband; Richard Douglass married a woman in Philadelphia & took her to New York; Ben is a widower with 5 sons, his sister, Lizzie keeps house for him; Alexander Boggs has gone to pieces, lost his mind; I have not heard from Thomas & he has not heard from me since Feb. 7, was a year, I enclose his letter; Looking forward to hear from W. Gill of Col. Haughman arrival in St. Louis; I am sorry I can not leave you $1000., I am growing feeble & will need every dollar; I applied for 160 acres county land, Henry McElderry applied, Patrick Matthews, who was in battle at North Point with your father also applied. We all give this land to you.
